Latin Name: Athyrium Filix Femina

Description: Also known as the common Lady Fern, this Ontario native perennial is a fantastic forest filler or shady perennial! Great for underplanting trees, filling shady areas, or to add a tropical aesthetic to northern gardens, these ferns are quite hardy and versatile if given the right conditions. Great for wet garden areas that get part or full shade.

NATIVE TO ONTARIO

While native, this fern spreads rather quickly if it is happy in it's location. This is a great option if you are looking to create a naturalized native garden as ferns are important to native birds, insects, and small mammals.

To avoid spreading, plant within a ground-contained space.
