CACTUS MOON
Latin Name: Gymnocalycium mihanovichii
Description: These vibrant, eye-catching plants are somewhat of a mutant species, taking the top of a Hibotan cactus, and grafting it onto a rootstock cactus. This is done because the Hiboten cactus cannot photosynthesize to create chlorophyll naturally, so it must be grafted onto a different species for survival. The moon cactus features an upright cactus stalk, with a rounded, spiky, ball-like form on the top that comes in many varying, bright colours.
Watering: Usually every 2 weeks in the summer, less regularly during dormant months, perhaps every month or so.
Growth Rate: Very Slowly
Shape: Upright
Sun or Shade: Indirect light to low-light
Difficulty level: Easy, thrives on neglect
